MY DD is a couple of days short of 21months. We bought a potty last week and I intended to just let her have a go once a day just prior to bath time. the lady in the shop said if you let bath water run at the same time they can't help themselves and just pee...No such luck here. She has not peed in it even once but will pee almost immediately once in the bath. onthe other hand she loves to sit on it and does not want to get off, delaying the bath and the whole bedtime routine. Shoudl I leave it for a while and try again in say a month or two or persist?

i would wait till she shows signs of wanting to go, showing alot of interest in a potty/toilet, holding on for long peroids, wanting nappy off. I tried TT my DD like that my 1st it took forever I waited for signs from DS1 and he was TT in a week, my DS2 is 24mths old and Im not even close to thinking his ready

Yes.

DD has been TT since 2.75 yrs ( not including the 6wks she did poos on the toilet as she turned 2). She has just turned 3 and we still get our defiant times where she will wee on the sofa, poo in her undies etc.

Much longer then TT her brothers at 3.25yrs who took 5 days.

Only tried earlier as she starts Kindy next year and we were at home for two weeks with her brothers ill.

I personally would just keep doing the potty every night before bath, but don't push it any further at this stage. Once she is weeing before her bath, you can always try some nappy free time outside and encourage her to use the potty.

I would do this as well. I started with the bath time potty with each of my children. 2 were day trained by 21 months, the other one never went at bath time but at 21 months demanded the potty to do poo and never wore a nappy again.
