Ok I have a major dental phobia since DS2 was born and dentist really stuffed up some preventative refillings.

I had not been to the dentist for 5 yrs and needed nearly all my preventative fillings redone.

So I did the chicken thing and went for sleep dentistry. iV twilight anaesthesia. Two hours of not knowing what was happening, although I remember them asking me at times to open mouth wider etc. all fillings done. Teeth cleaning done and I feel like a new woman.

Now I will be good and do check ups every 6 m.

So just saying for those major dental phonics there is a good solution.

I had a major dentist phobia as well and needed lots of work done, including my wisdom teeth removed. I had a general anesthetic at the hospital and he did all the major work there. Then over the next 12 months he got me back every 3 months and did minor work and slowly helped my phobia. Now I can sit in the chair and have just about anything done without shaking so badly that I can't keep still!

It's a great feeling isn't it OP!!

Op, i would love to know the cost associated with the sleep dentistry if you dont mind sharing, and if in melb where you had it done?
I desperately need to go to dentist but im sh*t scared after a really bad experience last time i went.

You should get some of that back from Medicare though? When I had mine done a few years ago, they refunded 85% of the anaesthetist's fees.

It really is an awesome solution if you can't have it done under a local and don't want to go for a GA.

Why, oh why does it have to be iv? I need lots done but needles leave me a quivering mess literaly. I cant even get DD done, a friend or her dad have to take her.
I wish there was a sleeping pill that has the same effect.

Squeaky a I had Elma on my arm and eyes closed so didn't notice first needle then no memory of the rest.

My dad did similar in Sydney and had a cocktail of tablets to take. So perhaps ask around.
