To take nurofen after panadol??

This toothache is getting the better of me

I'm not a pharmacist, not a doctor and as long as you're not pregnant I personally would be comfortable doing so.

I am doing neurofen plus and mersyndol tonight for same reason.

After having my wisdom teeth out I was told by the surgeon to take Panadol and Nurofen for a few days. I would take the Panadol, wait about 2 or 3 hours, then the Nurofen, then a few hours later, more panadol, a few more hours then more nurofen, and so on. Just make sure you don't exceed the maximum dose per 24 hours for either medication. (Actually it may have been Panadiene Forte and Nurofen.)

If you can get to a pharmacy try getting some Panadiene. It is panadol plus a small amount of codeine. I think there is also a nurofen plus codeine that might be better for the pain.

A pharmacy might also have a gel or something with some lignocaine in it to numb your gum and tooth. Also get some clove oil and try that too.

Please try to get into a dentist ASAP and get that tooth taken care of. It will feel so much better once it is out of your head.

I've got a tooth abscess and the chemist told me to take them 2 hours apart so you are always under some kind of pain relief. She did say it was ok to take them together though.

So to dull the pain at first I took both and then two hourly after than.

Assuming it is safe for you to take both of them, then yes you can take both at the same time. Nurofen is better after food. I used to take both and tramadol all at once with doctor's okay.

Eta if it's really bad, codeine is great if you are safe to take codeine. Also, panadol is best if you keep taking it regularly to manage ongoing pain, so take it when it's due instead of waiting for the pain to get bad again.

My GP told me it's ok to take both nuerofen and panadol at the same time as long as you don't exceed the recomended dosage in a 24 hour period, but don't double on one or the other, ie; don't take panadol and then panadeine forte as they both contain paracetemol.

Could you get hold of some Oil of Cloves OP? I think it is amazing for temporary relief of toothache.
You could take something stronger if it is severe but you'd need to talk to your pharmacist about this.

It is safe and common to cycle paracetamol and ibuprofen. Just don't forget paracetamol is max 4g/day (every 4-6 hours) and ibuprofen is 6g/day (every 6-8 hours).
