I'm considering taking my almost-3yo to the current Babies Proms concert. Anyone been yet? If ,is it enjoyable?
Can you sit with your kid on the carpeted area or do adults have to sit on the chairs? Thanks for any reviews/advice. |

We are going on Thursday. I believe it's sitting on the carpet.
I know my DS (just turned 4)is going to love it. He has an interest in the different instruments in the orchestra, so hopefully he doesn't ask too many questions that I don't know the answer to!! We're going tomorrow. I think it will be carpet for those people that get there early and seats for everyone else. (That's what happened last time).

PP, feedback please on the performance?
We have tickets for the 22nd Dec. we have the CD and book at home. I read it to DS a couple of times a week. He's reciting sections of it from memory |

I take my children regularly, we love it!
Parents are encouraged to sit on chairs so children can sit on the carpet, but many children understandably want to be close to their mum or dad so it's fine for parents to sit on the floor too. My daughter didn't love the Christmas show as much this year as previous baby proms we have seen. Most of the other children seemed to be loving it though. This year was a bit more raucous and pantomime in style. |

We went today, and like EBeditor, it wasn't quite as enjoyable for my DS as previous years. It was less 'magical christmas' than previous years and more raucous like she said. But still very enjoyable and great for the kids to be able to get up close to the instruments.

We also go regularly and love it! Agree with PPs that the carpet is usually for the kids, parents on chairs although it depends on the location, there are more chairs in the playhouse/drama theatre than the Urtzon Room. There is always plenty of room on the floor but they do prefer if there aren't kids wandering too close to the musicians.

Friends went today with 2.5 yo , dd and DS they loved it! I'm one of the friends who went today, and can't compare it to previous ones bc it was a first, but my DS loved it, he was in complete awe the whole time, our little friend (girl) was far more into it, but they both had such a great day. Seating is however you choose, children on floor at front, adults can also sit on floor but towards the back, and plenty of chairs to spare, plenty of room really. Had a great day but that could also be bc DS had his first train trip too! It was a big day of firsts |

That's a great point nik_klinger - my kids love catching the train in to the city and seeing the Opera house and ferries at Circular Quay. It makes the whole experience more exciting.
