 Can I use a zig zag stitch on patchwork |

I'm making my second patchwork quilt and want it to look a bit different to the first. I've used rectangles instead of squares this time, but I was wondering if using a zig zag stitch would also look alright? The thread is bright blue so it will stand out.
I've tried googling but couldn't find anything, so thought I would ask on here! |

Your quilt - your way! I suggest practicing a bit first, make a fake section with all the layers you are planning to stitch through and test it out, adjusting width/length until you are happy.

 I did some practicing and then did the first row but the tentioning must have been wrong for a large zig zag and the whole row was very out of whack. So I unpicked the whole row, turned the dial down so it did a smaller zig zag and it all came out ok. There were a few times the tentioning went a little crazy and did them a bit close together, but all in all it wasn't too bad.
