SIL , who isn't a pllock, came with Little Miss 2 and Little Miss 1 to the local shopping centre with us today so I could do some Christmas shopping. She entertained the girls while I did the mad dash through K-mart and threw things into the trolley willy-nilly then we met up in the food court afterwards for a nice mango smoothie and doughnuts.

It was while I was about to have my second cinnamon delight that a girl sat down at a nearby table and SIL whispered to me "Ummm.... I feel decidedly underdressed now. I left my best fascinator at home".

The chick on the next table had this black and hot pink thing that contained feathers, a hair clip and a piece of lacey crap attached.

I couldn't help but laugh and think of Livsh (and then have a coughing fit from snorting cinnamon). Perhaps this girl was still proud of her fascinator and felt the need to get more wear out it, even down to the local shops.

So the question is, where else have you spotted a fascinator?

Wearing a fascinator - or indeed, any elaborate hairpiece - is not my style. But does wearing one necessarily make a person stupid?

I think the 'pillock' reference is pretty harsh.

OP, I would have done the muffled snort/laugh too. Livsh's thread would have definitely made me notice this person.

Its not something you really see at your local shooping centre food court. generally. If she had 12 layers of painted slap on, then I would have just assumed she was a model for something or other.
