Went into kmart last night at indooroopilly.....is it just me or does it look like every single worker in there is under the age of 18? I know kmart has changed a lot in the last few years but I use to see a lot of older ladies and guys working there.
Everyone looks like there aged between 15-18.

not that it really matters just wanted to know

It's always teenage casuals who work Thursday nights. Always has been in most retail stores.

I don't know this particular store but my almost 15 year old niece has just gotten her first part time job at Kmart and I couldn't be happier that she's doing something productive rather than bludging around with her mates. I'd hate to think customers were looking at her sideways because she's younger than other staff.

I imagine they're all afternoon staff or kids who have left year at the end of year 10.

Personally, I'm glad they have a job, than no job. like the PP said, better they work than go and get into mischief with their mates.

I've seen Senior people there, plenty of them in my Kmart. Wouldn't mind working there, except they have that 24 hour one in my area I just have no desire to work odd hours.

When I used to work Thursday nights at one of the big retailers the only people who would work Thursday nights were nightfill and the duty manager, even the checkout supervisor was 17.

Nothing new at all.

I often notice a lot of new young staff at all of the big stores in the Indooroopilly/Toowong area at this time of year. I think it is because the uni students have finished their degrees, graduated and left the area, and the students who have just finished year 12 have gotten the newly available jobs. Also, the shops need plenty of cheap casual staff for the Christmas rush.

I agree with others that if you go to Kmart at Indro during the day you'll see staff who have an older average age. Same for Woolworths at Indro.

OT but does anyone else hate the new Target store at Indro? I much preferred the old one, and it was bigger. This one is apparently only 2/3 the size of the old one.

Yep also went into target last night not really happy, fully agree with you there way to small. I think they are putting a Cole's were the old target use to be....trying to stay away from there to they finish building.

Actually Kmart is moving to the old Target shop. The current Kmart will be closed off with a wall, so I guess that it will become part of a carpark. Woolworths will be moving along towards the Myer end where Pumpkin Patch and other shops were. Coles will be going in to where Woolworths is currently. The bottom floor of Myer is being converted into a Fresh Food Precinct eg butcher, fruit and veg shop, bakery, etc.

I think that the changes are stupid and they've gotten rid of some of my favourite shops and they aren't allowed to return. Best and Less is the one I miss the most, followed by Priceline and Crazy Clarks. I guess that they aren't "high class" enough for the "new and improved" Indooroopilly. I still don't know why they needed to add a David Jones there. There's a newly revamped one at Toowong. It was only renovated this year.

I was talking to a long term staff member at Toowong Kmart and she said that they have been a lot busier since the Indro renos started. Seems like a lot of people are avoiding Indro while they are destroying renovating it.
