I was at the RSPCA yesterday, needed flea treatment, thought I'd show DS the kitties because its his birthday and he loves them.
But I fell in love with a little black kitten. It came up to the door meowing at me, so I had a little cuddle, tried to put it back, but it walked straight back to me for more cuddles, and just seems to have the most sweet temperament. I sent DH a joking email to say I bought her. When he got home he said he wouldn't mind if I did get her. Now I'm seriously tempted! Only issues: I have another cat, not sure how they would get on. I rent. The cost. |

No.
Every kitten is irresistible - you have to be strong in their presence! While you are a renter it is foolish to build up a menagerie it just makes it so, so much harder when you have to find a new place. I know this thread is going to be full of people saying DO IT! So I thought I'd get in quick and be Mrs Downer! |

I'm not sure there is much difference having one cat or two in the renting world countrymel?
Oh no, I'm arguing for the kitty! |

For the kitty - just don't declare them on your rental application

Depends on your current cat and their temperament.
We got a second cat about three and a half years ago because we thought our cat Gizmo was lonely. We were wrong, wrong, wrong. My cat loves to be the top of the chain, and after the initital winter snuggles when the second cat was still young, she hated his presence. Although we'd always considered her aloof with other people, she got much worse and was outright hostile to some people - namely my sister whenever she would pop in to feed her while we were away. Our second cat unfortunately disappeared a few months ago, and Gizmo is a changed animal. She's sookier with us than she's ever been, and is friendly towards other people. She's just happier in general, and even her interactions with DS have improved. Our second cat was a pound cat, and I wish he hadn't disappeared, but I also think if I had my time again I would not have got a second cat. Kittens are adorable - my friend has a new one that I saw on the weekend and fell in love with, and when she mentioned that he still had two siblings looking for a home I was very, very tempted. But you really need to think a lot about how your established cat will react This post has been edited by HollyOllyOxenfree: 14/12/2012, 08:52 AM |

No.
Without wanting to be snarky, I have read a number of your threads and I honestly think that if you are struggling to buy weather-appropriate clothes for your children, the last thing you need is another pet. |

I have two cats and two dogs and love them all so much.
But...you should only get the kitten if you can commit to keep it for another 20 years. There are too many cats given away because people don't think about it long term. |
