Can anyone tell me anything about this??
I cant afford the real stone and really don't want plain Laminate or Formica.. I am wanting something that is stain and heatproof which the others aren't, but according to the brochure (which I now cant find) the reconstituted stone is. I have essa stone in my current kitchen, and CaesarStone in my new kitchen. Love them both. No staining. No scratching. I love that I can put hot things directly onto it. Looks really nice, easy to clean.

I have caesarstone too but was told to never put anything hotter than what you can hold in your hand on it as there is a risk of it cracking.. not sure how true that is but I'm not willing to risk it and find out!!
Also they said that they don't recommend leaving stuff on the bench that could potentially stain it for very long (e.g. beetroot, red wine)..guess this may depend on the colour you choose though (mine is white) My bench is 4 years old and still looks brand new, very happy with it. Bunnings sell a spray and wipe type product specifically for stone benches (that is not expensive) and that's what I use to clean it. |

What vanillaicecream said - except mine is 3 years old.
I have had minor stains come our with a bit of bicarb soda made into a paste. Nothing I couldn't remove yet. I don't put hot directly on... but I reckon you could. |

We looked at doing this a few years ago when we were planning our kitchen. It was about the same price as a full stone bench top. Needless to say we scrapped that idea and now have caesarstone instead.

thanks for taking the time to reply.. hummmm, I'm not sure we're talking about he same thing?? Maybe I called it the wrong thing...this is what I'm asking about www.granitetransformations.com.au swimmingalong - we have had two different quotes from granite transformations - one about a year ago and one 4 years ago. They were one of the most expensive companies we got quotes from (yes, a very thin veneer was going to be more expensive than a solid benchtop, which is what we ended up getting) and longest time frames. Two close family members have used them in that time and both say they would not use them again - messy, shoddy, unhelpful and just generally not a company they would return to. One of them (within the last 6 months) is still waiting for a callback regarding stained benchtop - GT had already had to return to fix something else and saw the stain at the time but didn't do anything about except to say they would send someone else out to have a look - she is still waiting. Also, 4 years ago when we received quotes, granite transformation in particular, but also a couple of other companies, assured us that CaesarStone and Quantum Quartz were both heat resistant and safe for dishes straight out of oven - which I loved the idea of. Second time around NOBODY at all (I am in NSW, don't know if that makes a difference) offered a warranty which covered cracks etc as a result of heat damage. They all said that new research, which was obviously done during the time we got our first and second lot of quotes, had shown that the manmade composite/reconstituted stone was not actually heatproof and there had been an increasing number of instances with cracks due to a hot dish being put on cold stone. Having said all that, I love my Quantum Quartz, my SIL has it and loves hers too, and if you look after it there is no reason why it shouldn't last a lifetime. I do believe that the lighter the colour the more susceptible it is to staining. |
