Last night I found out that I have a job interview next week - for a role that I would love!
I have been all over the place work wise since having children. In the times I'm a SAHM I long to go to work and have "me" time. When I'm at work I long to be at home with the children, and I have done everything from casual, just weekends through to full time 40+ hours a week.
This time last year I felt I couldn't do it anymore, and have taken the last 12 months off to figure out what I REALLY want to do and study towards it, and then hopefully land a role in that career when DD starts kindy next year. So I have been studying Education Support to work as an SSO (or teachers aide in other states).
A role came up in my son's school for a Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Specialist. It involves helping children discover and appreciate the wonder of fresh grown produce and cooking dishes with junior and middle primary that appeal to them using the produce. 15 hours a week, and only school weeks. Perfect!
The school's HR Manager's daughter is a very good friend of my son's and I have spoken to her before about her view on what units I should focus on in my study, and she was very encouraging about me applying at the school as I volunteer a lot and am very involved, and that always stands out to them. She rang me yesterday to let me know, and gave me some tips on the interview process
Sorry for the essay, I am just so excited and can't stop thinking about it. If I get this then my focus in this year off (although tough financially as DH is self employed) will have paid off, fingers crossed
