Exchanged presents with my sister on the weekend. She knows three of the six people in my family have been on an elimination diet for food intollerances for a couple of months now. I have spoken to her about it a few times.

When I opened my gift from her I was very chuffed with the fantastic measuring jug she gave me - it is a seriously great jug!

The part that made me go HUH???? was that it was filled with little packets of instant pudding, jelly crystals and choc bits......

I get what she was doing - the whole kitchen experience thing of equiptment and something to make in the jug.

But surely she would have had a little voice in her head saying "Hmmm. Food intollerances - maybe I'll just give her the jug"...especially since she herself has food allergies!!!!!!

Love my sister dearly, so I shall assume she had a lot more important stuff on her mind at the time...

Anyone else had an amusing 'huh' gift yet this Christmas??

DH has diet & medication controlled diabetes. He got biscotti as his Secret Santa at work. We can only presume the person allocated to him was someone new or someone from another office. Oh well, his workmates are enjoying the tin of biscotti!

Love a good jug myself... they make me happy in a way I can't explain

(is now the time to admit I have 3 pyrex and an uncounted amount of non pyrex jug shaped measuring paraphernalia in my kitchen?......... and I'm not really one for measuring!)

I still can't get over the terribly sexy size 18 G strings my MIL gave me quite some years ago...I was a size 10 at the time!

Ah Mel, I DO understand without judgement. My new Pyrex jug leaves me with a tingle in the sub-cockle region!

It's the one with the measurements on the inside so I don't have to bend down to look at the side for accuracy. It has cup, ml and oz measurements and can measure a whole litre in one go....sigh....

Do you cover it when cous-cous-ing? I thought you had to cover it so the steam didn't escape...or something...

We can actually eat cous-cous, so that may be the first use for my wondrous jug!

I have asked my dad for a new Pyrex jug for Xmas, I thinks I'm mad that I want one bigger than 500ml

Cous cous Countrymel style..

Cup of cous cous in wondrous jug
Stir through some powdered garlic and whatever spice will go with tonight's meal.
Add cup of boiling water and cover with glad wrap

Wander off and get distracted by pretty things.

Uncover cous cous and fluff with a fork
Add sliced spring onions and sometime some sundried tomatoes.
And some butter

Re-cover and microwave for about 3 mins

Fluff again with a fork

Serve with joy from magnificent jug..
