Hi

My boss is leaving for a interstate transfer. We are making a photo book for him as a memento of his time here in Adelaide. I am trying to find the right words to express how I feel about what he has done for me. All I can come up with is:

It's amazing how one person can have such an impact in such a short amount of time.

It doesn't feel 'right' and am hoping someone can help me out . I've only been there for 7 months but he is the most inspiring, generous employer I have ever met, and am finding it hard to put into a short sentence just how I feel. He is the sort of boss you want him to be proud of you IYKWIM?

Then this is what I would say

Thank you for being such a generous and inspiring person to work with. You will be missed. You have made such an impact in the short time you have been here

A bit long winded, but I had a boss like that and I copied the poem 'success' to his card.

"To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."

(There's a few variations of it online)

Possibly slightly different context as he'd been retrenched, and may have been doubting is worth etc. But it summed up for me what a success I considered him to be, in every way.
