We want to go away for a few days camping, near the coast as it will be hot. We have two dogs, so need pet friendly options. Would prefer bush type camping rather than caravan parks but open to any suggestions at the moment. I have downloaded a document from Northern Suburbs dog club, and am aware of publications like "holidaying with dogs" and camping books. Just looking for personal suggestions. Thank you. :-)

I know a spot not on the coast but on the banks of a beautiful river just outside of Sofala (literally 2 kms out of town) which is about 3 hours from Sydney.

We camped there for a few days with friends and their dog a couple of years ago and it was gorgeous, we spent a very hot new years day inner tubing down the river.

There aren't any facilities where we were but we were self sufficient so that was fine for us. Plus the local general store does the best (and biggest) burgers that I have ever eaten!

Ooh can you give me the name of this place please? I think the OP is looking for places in WA but I'm in NSW and am always on the hunt for dog friendly spots to camp.

It is just outside a small 'gold rush' town called Sofala which is less than 1 hour from Bathurst. It really is gorgeous. We camped on the river bank near a bridge on the way to walls end but later found nicer camp spots under trees closer to town and you have it pretty much to yourself.

We usually camp in National Parks as we don't have a dog but this was a great find for when we really needed to camp with our friend's dog.

Sorry OP I didn't check your link and so didn't realise you are WA - I was wondering where you could camp in NSW on the coast that was bush camp, not caravan camp and not national park!

Hi OP, check out Parrys Beach, in between nornalup and Denmark. It's about 4.5 hrs south of Perth.

Thank you for the suggestion, will look into that. Was hoping for somewhere closer to Perth though.
