Hi Everyone,

I had my Mirena inserted at a Womens Clinic in Melbourne and paid $250 out of pocket. It my fault for not checking properly, but I assumed I would get something back.

Not happy Jan, not exactly swimming in money this time of year!!!

I had mine done privately, by the OB that delivered DS - and it was $100 out of pocket for the procedure plus $30 for the mirena. However, I didn't have to have an initial consultation because she already knew me and my history. The follow-up appointment to check for placement and side-effects was bulk-billed. I was told of the costs when I booked in, so I had plenty of warning.

It's much better value long term than the Pill! But it's really annoying when you don't know up front and when it comes at a bad time of year.

I got one today. $35 for the mirena, $160 for the consult ( private ob), getting $75 back from Medicare.
