DO any of you do anything special on Christmas Eve? This year as the kids are older and more into Christmas I am planning on getting out a mattress, setting the kids up on the floor, and have us all watch The Polar Express, then read The Night Before Christmas before sending them off to bed for the night. We might also go looking at the Christmas lights but this will depend on how late it is getting.

So what are your plans?

I am going to make a good old fashioned trifle for all of us, as no one else in my extended family likes it!

We do Christmas eve with the inlaws, as everyone's busy with their own families Xmas day.

DF is working Christmas day, so we are having our family Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve. I haven't decided what I'll be cooking yet, but probably something chickeney with roast veggies. We'll also be doing the presents then as well. We only have from 6pm to 9pm together.

It was supposed to be just the three of us for DD's first Christmas, but the housemate is having a sad about being away from family for Christmas, and her boyfriend being busy, so I've let her join us on the condition she is in charge of camera duties. Might as well make her useful.

This year it is at our house.

We will enjoy a hot dinner with trimmings followed by presents and then dessert.

It is very pleasant and a great way to split up the festivities and presents!

Our children still get their presents from us on Christmas morning.

We always have a bring a plate street party from 5pm for a few hours. I used to go to midnight mass as well, but DS is too little.

we normally see DP's extended family but won't be happening this year if bub hasn't arrived and I'm feeling up to it we will go to MIL's after tea for a bit but that'll be it

Us too. Go early to the service for the carols pre service.

Once the kids are in bed DH and I will watch Love Actually.... Been doing that every year since it came out on DVD.

Eta movie watching has happened in London, Switzerland, Sydney and Melb. My whole family does it when we are all together.

We want to start a tradition. Thinking of making some goodies for Christmas Day. DP will be on hols (yay!) she he can play with DD.

I remember knowing a family and each year they would take the kids to Wet'n'Wild on Christmas Eve and wear them out. That way they go to bed early that night. Am keeping that in mind for when DD is older
