My 4 1/2 year old has been diganoised with Phimosis.
We have tried the steroid cream for 1 month which have helped a tiny amount but not to much at all. Seems the gp is stearing towards the snip but would like to get another opinion ect. So go to another gp or is there a specialist who i can see.. I dont mind circumcision ( prefer not to ) but would like to explore other options if possible |

You need to see a urologist or a paed surgeon. PM if you are in Brisbane and I can suggest a very conservative guy who doesn't go straight to circing.

my eldest had it when he was around 4, saw the peadiatrician and he didnt seem fussed with it, just said leave it be and it will sort itself out. He doesnt have any problems now and he is nearly 9 and we never did anything to it. Would get a referral to a pead if you want a second opinion

We saw a paediatric surgeon in Newcastle who was very conservative, the GP was all for the snip, paed surgeon took a wait and see approach, 2 years on everything is OK.
Don't rush into anything, as others have sad see a urologist or paed surgeon |

It doesn't always sort itself out, my son's hasn't and won't. His surgeon is planning to circ next time he needs surgery.

Thanx ladies!
Im in western Sydney so any suggestions would be great! Its a hard situation.. I dont want to get him circumcised if not needed but also not be to gentle in the approach and he has long term problems. |

My guy's 15 and still hasn't been circed. However he doesn't have repeated UTIs and my understanding was that if he were to have UTIs we would need to circ.

My boy hasn't had any infections or utis.Im more worried it could affect his future sexual performance or something.. have read a few storied about it being tight and uncomfortable when they are erect and it has affected their performance,

At 4.5 I would say that time is your other option. If he has no infections and no discomfort at present I would just give it a bit longer. My oldest boy did end up needing to be circumcised at 6.5 due to pain issues with his foreskin, but I would have left it longer if it weren't for this.
And yes, a pead surgeon or urologist is the way to go. Good luck! |
