Hi
I have an option of taking on some more work next year so have been taking lots of things into account when working out what to do. (eg cost of additional childcare, etc) I have been looking at our entitlement to FTB A which we are borderline. According to the Human Resources site we can earn up to $139,882 between us and still get something, but when I use the rates estimator even with what we earn now $131,800 it says that we are not eligable. i know that I sound scabby! However I need to ensure that if I take on an extra day of work that we do actually come out in front. We can potentially pay for an extra day childcare, loose and FTB A, loose FTB A supplement, and loose the schoolkids bonus. Has anyone else been borderline, how do you ensure that you are either over by enough to cover yourself or just under. Thanks J |

I think over 109500 you drop down ftb a, I know we lost rent assistance too. They're changing everyone and it's so confusing

The different amounts are probably due to the supplements. At $131-139K you might still be eligible for the supplement (and possibly the schoolkids bonus?) but not eligible for the fortnightly payments.

I did similar calculations last year but was under the impression we wouldn't be entitled to anything once our joint income surpassed $109k....
I'm no expert, but I think you only get ccb and CCR on that income? |

I just looked at their site and got for 2 kids under 12 and under and 1 over 12 the max to get FTB A and supps is $133 244 - the $139 887 one is for 2 kids over 12 and 1 under - I was going off your signature for their current ages.
Now that is the maximum income limit - for people renting not owning their home. I played with the calculator and got this - when I put in own home you got nothing - put in renting for $300 a week and you get $87 a fortnight in FTB A. People tend to not know that renting gives you a higher income limit - say for getting maximum FTB and for getting any FTB at the higher end. That is why people will say they lost their FTB when they brought a home - they didn't know there is a different income limit for payments between renting and owning as you will see the website doesn't really state that well. So I guess if you take the extra day you will lose FTB, but it looks like you already should have on $131,800 - I would be checking that up so you don't get a bill at the end of the finical year just in case. |

To receive the supplement and school bonus you have to receive some FTA during the year or at tax time if you receive nil FTA you will not get supplement or school bonus

FTB A is worked out so strangely. I am a single parent and get the base rate of FTB A $24? A fortnight and no rent assistance because my child support payments are $600 a fortnight.
