We're on our own for Christmas this year and I'm wondering what Christmas morning traditions you may have.

Our daughter is 3 this Christmas and I have this fear that immediately after she wakes up it will just be a mad rush to open all the presents - I'd like to distract her, slow it down if I can - any maybe embrace some traditions for us!

We open all the Santa pressies, have breakfast then exchange all the other gifts.

We get up, check the biscuit plate to see if Santa has been, head in to the lounge and start opening presents.

This was our tradition when I was a child and it continues.

Stocking.

Lots of Christmas music.

Church (if we hadn't been the night before) - this has been 'omitted' since my Mum died

Outside 'burning off some excitement' game - if new bikes have arrived this is the time to take them for a spin.

One present each to open.

Lolling.

Big walk around the neighbourhood to see everyone else riding their new Christmas bikes.

Sandwich or two for anyone not requiring stomach pumping still from their lunch

Big game of Pictionary or Scrabble or Charades.

Wake up, need to wait until everyone is up, so generally means lots of giggling and whispering in the hallway while the girls sneak peaks into the lounge room. Usually also means cuddles in our bed while waiting for everyone to wake up.
When DD1 was 2.5, it was simply a case of her coming in and climbing into our bed with us, lots of cuddles before we got up.

Santa stockings first up.

Once they are open, the kids can play with anything in that while DH and I get breakfast - bacon and eggs, or pancakes, or whatever. I'll usually hit play on the christmas cd.

After brekky, we open the rest of the presents to each other.

Stockings can be opened anytime - the children will probably get up in the night to go through them. Then they pack them all back in and bring them into out bed to go through them with us. They are allowed to eat chocolate from their stockings before breakfast!

DH makes scrambled eggs, and smoked salmon for breakfast, which he have with Buck's fizz.
The children can open their Santa/stocking gifts, which keep them occupied (!?!?) for the morning.
We have Christmas lunch around 2/3pm, then exchange family gifts afterwards.
If anyone is hungry in the evening, it's turkey and cranberry sandwiches/toasties, and Christmas pudding leftovers. Sometimes a movie.........

Open presents under tree.

More fruit, ham, cheese, croissants, cereal, cups of tea.

This year I'll be adding bubbly and fresh OJ to breakfast.
