Yes, I just think people forget that there is real risk to the most precious people in your life through not immunising. People need to wake up... If you don't immunise by choice (not because it is contraindicated) then this could happen to your child.

All Mustelidae wrangled. Except badgers. Drama llamas by appt.
Nah Jemstar, that whole story was just faked by the gubmint. And the family was paid off by Big Pharma.

And "Starship Hospital"? Please. Obviously a front for the evil alien lizard overlords.

The anti-vax mob make me sick. And sadly there is no vaccine available for that.

Mrs Williams said they made what they thought was an informed decision not to vaccinate any of their children because of concerns over adverse reactions, but had since changed their minds.

There is no such thing as an informed opinion not to vaccinate kids who are not contraindicated.

I hope the poor little boy makes a full recovery.

I admire the parents who have gone from anti vaxxers to vax advocates.
I hope he makes a full recovery.

I notice the family's other children have been quickly immunised now. Too little, too late for their oldest child though. Poor little boy.

STBG, yes, I do admire that the parents have been brave enough to admit that they were wrong and share their story. That would be incredibly difficult.

Stronger than ever.
Yep. I have a friend who had polio before immunisations were commonplace. Now she has post polio and although she is as active as she can be, her muscles are deteriorating and things get harder and harder for her as time goes on. I can not imagine exposing my children to the risk of that happening, despite the risk being small these days (here at least) due to herd immunity.

If someone chooses not to vaccinate due to the risk of rare adverse reactions to vaccination then they should be sh1t scared of the actual effects of someone of these diseases.

My daughter is at a high risk of an adverse reaction - she is also on a medication for which the MMR is contraindicated.

She got her MMR booster on Thursday after discussions between a Professor of Immunology, her specialist and the Vaccine Specialist at the Children's hospital.

Measles complications are far worse then the adverse reaction she risked and would complicate treatment for her syndrome even further.
