Just discovered my 4 & 6yo daughters have nits.
The lice themselves are tiny - I'm assuming too small to be picked up by a comb.
Been a while since I've dealt with this so after advice - does anything out there REALLY kill the eggs?
Prefer pregnancy friendly so I can treat myself too as a precaution but whatever works is good - I'm still suffering awful MS so the easier the better.

I have a an electric lice comb that zaps them without the use of chemicals, absolute life saver when my daughters kept getting them from school over and over again. It's called a " Robi comb" and you can find it or order it in at a chemist. It is great to detect and kill the lice

White conditioner and a nit comb every second day for a week.

Nit comb, conditioner, and repeat daily combing for a week. Most head lice strains are now resistant to most, if not all the head lice products on the market, and none of them are safe for PG or BFing women either.
You could try the herbal ones of course, but you might as well save your money and just use conditioner and comb. And pick the eggs out with your fingernails.

Anything perhaps more potent and less labour intensive? I don't actually have the energy to wash my own hair ATM, I've been getting the hairdresser to do it. Not sure I can commit to doing the girls so regularly when I'm couch bound.

The best thing is the conditioner and comb. Head lice is a pain so yes, it will be labour intensive. Or you could just shave their heads if that's not too much trouble for you.

Shaving them is the least labour intensive....

You can sit on the couch to comb their hair, just sit them on the floor on a towel in front of the tv.

Theres no other safe way in pregnancy to kill them and get rid of them, you need to pick every single lice and egg out, by hand. Chemicals will kill the crawling ones but not the eggs.

Can you take them to a lice clinic to have them dealt with?

I found like a PP suggested, that a Robi comb works wonders. We have the one that kills them with some sort of wave emmission.

We went through a terrible stage of them a few years back. Inky thing that got rid if them for good was HL7 (doubt it can be used in pregnancy) followed by conditioner and lice comb. The more conditioner you use the easier it is and you can do it in the couch. I used paper towel to wipe off the comb after each stroke and you can see the lice and nits against the paper. We used the shampoo then conditioner twice (7 days apart) and then just conditioner after another 7 days.

Bit the bullet - cheap conditioner and combing. Have just finished DD2 and she's sitting with a final conditioner & tea tree concoction glad wrapped to her head.

On to DD1 next, then over to Mums to have her comb me through and check. Please cross everything.

Not looking forward to rounds 2 and 3 It's been 3 years since we last dealt with them and I'm usually super vigilant with spraying tea tree and slicking the girls hair back into plaits and buns with gel. Got lazy with MS. Regret that now.
