Just recieved my electricity bill for a quarter and it was $1276! I almost died when I saw it. We live in Northern NSW. We lived in Sydney previously. We have been here for 6 months. We never use our air con, even though it gets so hot here and will only use the dryer if it's been raining for days. The only difference is we now have a dishwasher, which we use once a day at the most. Our bills in Sydney were about a half the price.

About $1000 a quarter. No gas. We are in Adelaide

Our last bill was just under $300 - we live in Tassie but have 12 solar panels which probably knocked about $400 off the price. We rarely use the heating or air con.

Wow that is insane. We use to live in NSW and it wasn't that high - I think the highest was $500 (no air con, dryer, slow combustion fire, no gas).

Now in WA our bill comes every two months and the highest it's been is $300 (in summer with air con). We have solar hot water - but need the booster on in winter - gas heater, stove.

The bill you've just reminded me I need to pay in the next week is around $400.
The one before that was around $600.
I'm in Newcastle NSW.


eta: We run the dishwasher once a day, have an aircon but don't use it and I run the dryer only if it's been raining for days as well.

Our winter bill for the first time ever was about the same. We finally (belatedly) decided to put in solar panels.

I hope the next bill will be under $300. We are timing our usage around the sun. So dishwasher, washing machine going on around the middle of the day not early. Soem hours, even with things running we are at zero usage.

we are a working family of four ( so not home during the day). went away for 6 weeks in sept-oct.
bill is from 21 aug -20 nov in melbourne $348.

How many kWh are you using per quarter though?

A price is irrelevant unless you are comparing usage as well.

We're in Canberra and we use between 1500 and 2000 kWh per quarter. Our bill is around $350 before solar rebate.
