Need some advice from experienced shoppers - when do you usually buy clothes from the us/ uk to make the most of the end of season discounts? I got some summer maternity wear from gap us in nov, but a lot of the sizes had sold out. Started looking at winter stuff for DD after Christmas, but not much on sale yet.

Is there a magic date that you start looking?

For the US i tend to favour the black friday sales i at times have gotten clothes for a dollar (us). For the UK i love the boxing day sales i got a pair of hot pink flats for £5 this week.

I find the trick is to join the websites you like and they constantly send emails about end of season & pop up sales. After a while you get to know the frequency and timing of the sales.

Oh and try and always shop on the first day of the sales as your more likely to get the sizes and styles you want.

From Nov I am really purchasing my winter stuff. The jacket I purchased at the beginning of Dec is no longer available. By this time it is really only the undesired stock and sizes. Like PP Black Friday is my big day.

I purchase Gymboree for my kids. This month I will get a few last winter items, but will actually start the Summer shopping. My summer shopping is Jan-August and Winter July - Feb.

As PP said sign up to sites you like as they move stock every few weeks. There is no holding all stock to one final sale, but stock revolving every 6-8 wks.

I always buy in the Boxing Day sales (some stores starts just before Christmas and some just after) and then the next sale is in June/July. That's the stores I buy from anyway, works out well that they're clearing out the winter gear before we head into winter then the summer gear before we head into summer.
Most of the sites have a sale section all year round but my favourite store has only 2 sales a year which run for about a month each time.
