I had post of the day once, until GQ took it away
I'm trying to avoid posting a 'gimme my money' type thread, but news.com.au are reporting it's $410 for primary kids, paid from January 9. I thought it was $410 for the whole year, and that the amount paid in January would therefore be half of that??
Anyone know?
Also, i remember seeing the lower age limit here before but can't find it now, anyone know what that is?

Pretty sure you are right - half was paid to those getting FTB A last year and this is the other half. To get this one the child must be starting school, must have had the 4yo check and you need to tell them. That's my understanding but I'm no expert - I just looked far enough to find out that we miss out.

News.com is reporting it wrong
You get the $410 in total over the year in 2 instalments
The January payment for primary aged children is $205 per child

The 4yo check has nothing to do with the schoolkids bonus, It's only required to be reported by those receiving an income support payment (parenting payment, newstart, DSP etc), if it's not done or reported, the FTB A supplement at the end of that financial year is withheld until the check has been done.

A full payment was made last June. The January payment is the first half of this year's payment with the other half arriving in July (it doesn't seem to follow the financial year).

You have to be in school and turning 5 before 31 July, I didn't get it last year even though I had a daughter in primary school (she turned 5 after 31 July).

This info is on my online account withCentrelink:

State/Territory Recognised Primary Level Not recognised as Primary level
New South Wales Kindergarten Years 1-6 Preschool
Victoria Preparatory Years 1-6 Kindergarten
Queensland Preparatory Years 1-7 Kindergarten/Preschool
South Australia Reception Years 1-7 Kindergarten
Western Australia Pre-primary Years 1-7 Kindergarten
Tasmania Preparatory Years 1-6 Kindergarten
Northern Territory Transition Years 1-6 Preschool
Australian Capital Territory Kindergarten Years 1-6 Preschool

eta: sorry it is so messy. So for example in WA you get the SKB if your child is in pre-primary - 7, but not in kindy. (This is just the primary school table)
