I just got a Ronson digital pressure cooker. When I set it to curry mode it sets itself to go for 24 minutes but doesn't start the countdown for about 5-10 mins. I wonder if this is this because the pressure is building up and then the countdown starts once the pressure has built up?

Any general advice/links to cooking with a pressure cooker would also be appreciated original.gif

That is right. I also have a ronson and it only starts the countdown when the pressure builds (you will kind of hear when it happens).

I am looking forward to winter to use it more often again.

(I tend to use some of the slow cooker mixes that you can get from the supermarket, because I am a bad cook).

I have the breville fast slow cooker, and it does this too! I freaked out the first few times!

CupOfCoffee - you can actually just throw in chicken and veg if you want - I have done this - 10 min for the chicken and then put veg in (not greens) on top and another 8 min. Juices in the bottom with gravy if you wish.

You can also make risotto really easy
I make green curry "risotto":

500g of arborio rice
1 med onion chopped,
1 -2 carrots chopped chunky
1 chicken breast chopped or 3 chicken thigh fillets
1 kan tong green curry base
1 400g tin coconut milk
1 x coconut milk tin full of water
A little salt and pepper for seasoning if required

cook for 20 mins on high pressure.
chop up beans or use peas and stir through when you open the cooker, then serve.
