After reading several threads in which people acknowledge not having many friends, or admiring certain EB users, or meeting up for Yum Cha and actually paying the bill... biggrin.gif

I'm thinking about taking a risk, and putting out a "Anyone in X (regional Far North Queensland) and wanting to meet people/make friends?" call. I'm pretty nervous about it, perhaps because I feel like a failure somehow for not having many friends IRL in my current location. And what if NO ONE responds??!! Or it goes really badly??!!

I moved here nearly 2 years ago, and have made 2 work mates, but both are gay and childless by choice, and are leading very different lifestyles to me. I guess I'm a bit lonely. I'm also concerned that my DH is my only close 'friend' up here, which puts a lot of pressure on him (and vice versa, since he hasn't made any friends either).

I'm a mum to a 2 year old DD and 3 month old DS, and I have realised that I don't have ANY friends with kids (mainly as most of my friends are gay). Not that the kids are my only interest, but it's hard to maintain a friendship when you are struggling with the 5-9 pm bedtime hell, and all your mates are just on their second course at some fabulous restaurant!

So, what if I was to post a topic along the lines of "Ex-Melbournian, hard working, left wing (but not complete hippy), animal loving, food and wine apprecianado with a penchant for sci fi and black humour seeks similar"???

Thoughts, EB?

May the cat eat you and the devil eat the cat.
Definitely do it!

You've gotta be in it to win it.

If a cat doesn't like you, then what's wrong with you?
Go for it! Some of the dearest friends I've made have been from EB.

I often send random EBers stalkerish "I think you're awesome" messages and a couple who I have wanted to ask if they'd be interested in a play date but I'm too scars if rejection! Lol

I'd rather go to play group or mothers group.

Bite me, treblesome mallard
I think yes.

Especially if feathers and margharita's are involved.

Also, I would attend any EB get together with a stun gun.

Basic safety always comes first.
