Mirror, mirror, shiny glass, tell me that is NOT my ass!!
I had upper and lower jaw surgery over 2 years ago and my ortho wants to do the final Xrays. Also my surgeon will want to do his Xrays as well to make sure nothing has moved etc...

Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question - but I honestly have no idea if you can have an Xray when you are pg. Can you or is it advised not to?

My appointment with the Ortho is on the 7th and my next u/s is on the 10th (to see if my little one still has a heart beat) and I will be 9w3d pg.

I have no problems with cancelling the appointments if there is a problem.

I've had xrays whilst pregnant but it was later in the pregnancy. I remember them commenting that they preferred not to do X-rays early on in the pregnancy as the baby was developing. Give the X-ray place a call - I imagine they would prefer not to do them early on in a pregnancy if not essential however as it would be your face, not abdomen, they might be happy to do them. Fingers crossed that your u/s shows a strong heartbeat. Good luck.

I should also mention the xrays are done at the ortho's office. So i wouldn't have a clue if they'd have a lead apron

I think if its something that you can postpone, then do. Just to be on the safe side. x

Fembo, not tart.
I had an X-ray done of my chest, much closer to bub, after being electrocuted at 23 weeks. I got blown 2 meters away and landed on my back. So I had no choice.
They had a special lead apron that they put over my tummy to protect bubs against radiation.

Though with a jaw X-ray, it isn't as close to bub as a chest X-ray. But if you're worried, ask if they have a similar apron to put over your tummy just in case.

You can, but its not recommended.
Call them and tell them you are pregnant. The should be able to advise you if its important enough to risk it or not.

FWIW, I needed an x-ray while pregnant as they were going to take my wisdom teeth out - they decided it wasn't worth the risk and I had to wait until after.

Speak to your surgoen, they may be happy to wait until after bubs is born.

If not, don't stress, they will put a lead apron over your tummy. (yes they will have one of these, even if the xray machine is just in your surgeons rooms, they have to)

I echo what PP"s have said. Call the specialists, tell them your pregnant and get their opinion.

Especially given what you've been through, and are still going through, personally I would probably put it off - at least until later in the pregnancy, but preferably until after...

FWIW, my dentist doesn't do mouth x-rays (and he uses the new fancy digital ones) when you are PG, or even if you think you might be pregnant!

Good luck
