Love love love my Samsung 8kg front loader. It's within that price bracket too.
I read a lot of product reviews online and read nothing bad about the Samsung. There are possibly other brands that are better but not within your budget. My machine has heaps of different settings, super quiet, has excellent energy and water ratings, and I like the fact that I can modify every wash to my liking ... for example, I can change the temperature, the number of rinses and the spin speed (which goes as high as 1400!!). There's also a hand wash cycle which I've used for super delicate things and they've not had any damage done to them. |

I can't really help in that price range, as we bought an Asko for about $1400.
However, it's a good idea to find out how long the wash cycles are and - if there are shorter cycles - ask around about how good they are. I was almost everything on a 40 minute cold cycle and it washes brilliantly. I also have a timer so that I can load the machine and tell it when I want it to start. On mine, the door pops open at the end of a cycle, so the clothes don't go all musty smelling. A few friends of mine have the Electrolux and are very happy with it. I think it would be around your price range, if at the higher end. |

I have a direct drive LG front loader 7kg and have had it about 6mths and just love it!! It has a 10yr motor warranty and is in your price bracket. It is so much better than our old Whirlpool one!!
I researched online, went around to some shops to see them in person then bought it online for a better price!! |

thanks Roses99 my god im going from a (probably 15year old) top leader so hearing about all these settings sounds great. III look into the Electolux. We rented a holiday house last week that had the Electrolux and I really liked it. You could change the settings on it too, so that you can customise your wash. It also has a delicates cycle. The owner of the house recommended using a 36 minute cycle for everyday type washing and it did a good job. Half an hour is pretty awesome for a front loader! |

Hi Shannon, thanks for sharing. the settins feature you mentioned sounds great.. I do alot of handwashing for delicates and that would be a time saver for me. ive comeacross a Samsung 7.5kg on Binglee website whats the model no for the one you have? This is what we've got: http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/home-ap...804WPC/XSA-spec Energy rating is 3 and a half stars, water rating 4 and a half stars. We paid less than $800 for it from the Good Guys (I can't buy online as I live in the bush and the amount I would save would be charged anyway for freight). For most cycles I choose the Daily Wash function which is 55 minutes but I'm pretty sure you can have shorter wash cycles if you want to. My DH has really dirty work clothes (grease, mud, you name it) and need a longer cycle, so I often put his clothes in the machine at night, set the delay start and they are done by the morning. The delay function is also good because the time you set is not the time the machine starts the washing, but the time you want it to be finished by, so if you want it ready to hang up at 7am, then that's the time you enter. You don't have to work out how long the cycle is, etc. This is my first front loader after using top loaders my whole life, and I'm so glad I didn't go back to a top loader which uses far too much water and is much harsher on clothes. |
