I've just spent the day at a friend's house and every time her husband had a drink from the fridge, it was straight out of the bottle or carton, instead of pouring the drink into a glass/cup. He then put the bottle/carton back into the fridge, all ready for the next person (me!) to enjoy.

My friend told me she's asked him politely to stop doing it, has demanded he stopped, poured drinks into jugs (he slurps straight from the jug), and even handed him a clean glass as he's reaching into the fridge. He says he doesn't want to create more washing up.

Drives her crazy, and I must say, I refused a drink after he'd wrapped his lips around the ottle I was waiting for a drink from (in a glass!)

Does it bother you?

Dh and I will drink from the bottle but we share that bottle with no one except the kids. I would never give a guest a drink from a bottle that has been drunk from directly.

To me it is no different than sharing a 600ml drink with your immediate family. Bt you wouldn't share it with anyone else.

Keep it real & stay with the fight...
The only reason one "shares" a carton is when one is playing "Hills Hoist Roulette"!

Drinking out of the bottle is my preferred method of cold drink consumption. But never ever if guests are coming over - new, clean bottles of drink for guests only.

I drink out of the bottle - when its my own bottle and not being shared with anyone else. (eg my water bottle at work)

I wouldnt mind someone finishing off shared bottle or carton straight from bottle/carton either - nobody is going to drink out of it after you so cant see problem with that.

But not from bottles/cartons that others will use after you.

Finishing the bottle, yes.

Drinking from a recently opened or half full bottle, absolutely not.

Its not the same as sharing a 600ml bottle - it goes back in the fridge and grows stuff. How am I to know if a guest comes over if it is contaminated with his backwash in it or not.
