Does anyone else get frustrated when searching for recipes online?!

For example: I've misplaced the really yummy pesto pasta salad recipe I used a couple of months ago so searching for a similar one. 80% of the recipes say 'Jar of Pesto' in the ingredients!! I'm sorry but that isn't a recipe! That is using pre-prepared stuff to make it look like you made a recipe!

A few weeks ago I was looking for a flavoured ice cream recipe. Most of them the first ingredient was '4lt tub of vanilla ice cream'. rant.gif

Anyone else get annoyed by this? Or am I just in a bad mood? tongue.gif

It's like that 4 ingredient cookbook, a jar of pasta sauce & some onion isn't a recipe i'd bother making a book about!

I find it annoying too, in fact the ice cream one is the most recent one that annoyed me! Chopping up some Cherry Ripe bars and mixing them into a tub of ice cream is not a recipe.

where is the like button when you need it. I think people just get a bit lazy with cooking. If I had people coming at last minute then I might do it the fastest way possible

So agree!!, and those monthly food mags are starting on it too! Surely if I am buying food mags I am someone who likes to cook and who has some ability and who therefore needs something a little more challenging or informative than mixing cooked pasta, cheese and bottled sauces together. I didn't pay good money for a mag for that bull!

Warning - occasional attempts at humour - not always successful

I hear that song, sister - although it seems to me there are some that have been doing so forever - if I wanted a recipe with "buy pre-prepared everything", I would have bought a different magazine...

Blanching the basil leaves? Never contemplated that. Does it give a less raw taste?

Speaking of cooking out of packets, did anyone see Nigella the other night with her cheesecake?

There's a few on Taste that involve cake packet mixes. They're not recipes, they're serving suggestions.

The big supermarket free magazines are the worst. They trick people into thinking that assembling packaged food is cooking.

It's like searching for a bread recipe and finding 'get out a packet of bread'.
