DH went to have a look at a 2007 Nissan Patrol today. He asked me if there was anything in particular he needed to check out and I asked about the anchor points. He said he could only see 2.

We have 3 year old twins (they weigh about 14kg) and an 11 month old boy (weighs about 10kg)

Does anyone have a patrol which has taken 3 seats that are anchored? Can this be done? Are there any seats that are suitable for my twins that don't need to be anchored (or does this not exist?) We currently have an x-trail which we have all 3 seats in but are looking to upgrade to a bigger car and proper 4wd for going 4wding and camping.

TIA

We have an older Patrol (2001). It has 3 anchor points, two on the outside seats of the middle row and another for the left hand seat in the rear row.

You should be able to call your local RAC and they will be able to tell you wether or not another anchor can be fitted. A freind of ours needed that done and they are able and qualified to do it safely (from memory it only cost about $70) Hope this helps

So you can only have 2 seats in the middle row and one in the back?
Was hoping we could still fit all 3 in the middle row...it would make it so much easier strapping them all in original.gif

Having anchor points fitted/moved in a car is expensive - moving the point is cheap and can be done by an experienced panel worker or similar, having it certified by an automotive engineer and having the rego papers changed to include the structural changes to the cars rego (a blue slip I believe in NSW) is expensive.

Not sure of the laws in other states.

Depends on whether it is just a case of lift plastic capping and screw in anchor point or is there is no provision for it. No provision for it it is a structural change to the car.

I don't think there is a provision for it as the seats are a split seat so the anchor could slip inbetween the seats.
I gave roadwise a call and the lady said to give Nissan or a type 2 fitter a call to see if it's possible to add another anchor in.

I'm guessing there are no seats available for 3 year old that don't need to be anchored?

If the seats are split 50/50, you can't get another anchor point unless you add a bar across the back. (Extremely expensive). We have a patrol like that and looked into it but seeing as we are only having two kids not going to worry.

If it is a 50/50 split there will not be amen anchor point and will be most likely expensive to install one as it would require engineering modifications to the car.
