Seeing how hot it is all around Australia at the moment I thought I would post a link to a helpful two page information sheet from the Queensland ambulance service on heat related illnesses.

It has information for both adults and babies on prevention and first aid.

Please comment to keep the topic active.

Or maybe a mod could pin temporarily?

I would pin it but pinned threads don't get noticed as well as other threads do original.gif

So maybe we can just keep this active as I think it has important information in it.

Maybe we can stick lots of heat related tips in here? Our heatwave starts tomorrow here in SQ, nothing compared to down south though!

-Put water out for the animals, they suffer too.
-Check on elderly relatives and neighbors.

Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur.
Singlet and undies. Get in cold shower IN clothing. Sit on towel on couch under fan. Repeat as necessary to stay damp!

This is great.

I think things like refridgerated watermelon and oranges are also a good way of maintaining hydration and energy levels in kids. When it's this hot you can't blame them for not wanting to eat much.

What fresh hell is this?
Keep dunking your hair under the cold tap and letting it drip dry.

Put a damp sheet/sarong on a clothes rack in front of the fan

Wet some face washers, stick them in the freezer and take out to wet yourself with when necessary (Ferret gave me that tip!)
