HiI'm 5 wks PG with my first. I'm new to this four and fairly new to Melborne so any advice would be great. I've made enquiries with a few OBs and I've been finding that out of pocket OB costs are about $5k to $6k + in central Melb. I'm wondering if this about standard in Melbourne? I'm planning on going to Frances Perry so I'll be limited to OBs who deliver there. I'm prepared to pay this much but wondered if it's worth me doing some more research. Thanks original.gif

I have a fantastic OB at St Vincent's and her management fee is $6500 ish. This is getting to the higher end of fees, but she is worth her weight in gold :-)

Certainly not abnormal to see fees like that for high demand OB'scat inner city hospitals.

I think you'll find this is average for Melbourne central obstetricians. If you are happy paying this much you would have a large number of Obs to choose from who attend FPH . Don't leave it too long to decide as some Obstetricians get booked out quickly.

There is an obstetrician who works between a couple of inner city hospitals who has a management fee that is closer to $8k now. ohmy.gif
Honestly not really worth this huge fee. sad.gif

My OB who works out of a Epworth Freemasons, he is costing me $4600, I'm 23 weeks pregnant with first baby, so I don't know what he is really like, but from all my consultations, I really like him! Good luck with it all.

Very happy with my OB who delivers at Freemasons and St Vs and her pg m'ment fee is $3500. 1st appt around $200 and all other appts bulk billed.
Expect some extra OOP for scans, anaesthetist (if required), paed etc.
