Saw the doc today and am heading back next week after some tests and she is going to talk to me about Duromine. I've had a 48kg weight gain in 10 years and need help now. I've seen her plus another doctor and neither of them would talk to me about surgical options at all whatsoever. Totally refused. The doctor I saw today also wasn't sure if you can take Duromine whilst breastfeeding either so she is going to read up on it this week.
I am just after the pros and cons from people who have used it. TIA |

Don't do it.
I would be VERY surprised if you could use it whilst breastfeeding. |

I am pretty sure you can't take it while breastfeeding.
What have you tried in the past to lose the weight? Maybe come join us in the summer weightloss challenge. We are all pretty much doing the same thing by walking/running/bike riding etc and trying to eat as clean as possible. I have started doing things at home like running up and down our stairs for 10mins at a time. Zumba or 30 day shred DVDs, little extras like lunges, squats, crunches when I can fit them in. |

i've tried it, and found it horrendous. worst most horrible moods, couldn't sleep, couldn't stop vomiting, and had to be admitted into hospital. yuk.

yep, definitely cannot use it while breastfeeding, and it should say that when she tried to prescribe it for you (window pops up with all contraindications)

I seem to be one of the few that it worrked for without horrible side affects. I found it difficult to sleep but I always had trouble sleeping anyway so I was used to that. the only was that even though I didn't get a lot of sleep I never felt tired so that was a bonus for me. I was a little more moody than usual though I was aware of it and kept it under control so I don't think anyone else noticed. I lost about 10kg over 3 months (about 12 mths ago). I still have more to lose and asked my Dr about giong on it again but she thinks that now my weight is more reasonable and not such a health threat the risks outweigh the benefits to me.
I'd be very surprised if it was safe to take while breastfeeding. |
