Really boring toenail losing question-
DD dropped a heavy bottle on her toe, it's gone all black and minging. It's grown out a little now and it's still minging, but it seems to not be connected to her nail bed any more?

I've never lost a nail, despite years of beating myself up with car doors and hammers, not really sure what to do. Do I have to try and keep a bandaid on it? A shoe?

TIA

This happened to ds, a clay pot fell on his foot.
Nail continued to grow for maybe 2 months, but was not connected to rest of nail properly, and en finally came off itself, but it was just a small piece that came off ( would have needed trimming in a few weeks anyway). It looked funny for a few weeks happened before Christmas , but now looks normal.

Dd dropped a can on her toe the other day so it's black already, at least I know what to expect though!

DD jammed her finger in a door when she was 12months. The nail fell off after a few days and we feared it may never grow back. But sure enough within a few months she grew a new nail, it looked a bit mishapen for a while but eventually looked normal. She is now 4 and I can't tell (or remember) which finger it was. original.gif
