How tricky and time consuming are they to make?

Do they freeze/thaw well?

Recommend me a recipe or are the taste.com etc recipe sites as good as any?

thank you - I am going to try an make some - I'm a bit nervous...

Oh - I do make my own pizza dough, if that is worth anything...

Thank you lovely ladies for any assistance

I just made my own first batch but I have a new Thermomix. I imagine if you can work with dough you could do it without a TMX. Very easy even for me to make (just started any sort of cooking)

Here is the recipe I used http://thermovixens.com/cheesymite-scrolls/

Not sure about freezing but they were yummy still warm.

I have a food blog.
That thermovixens one is a good recipe.

Where people go wrong with scrolls is they use a scone dough instead of a bread dough. The ones made with bread are way nicer and more like the ones you'd find at a bakery. They also stay fresher longer too.

This is where I went wrong first time. I 'Googled' a recipe and landed on a non-yeast, scone based recipe. It was far too dense and ended up like eating an under-cooked bread roll the next day.

Then, I saw the light and found a bread based recipe ....... the rest is cheesy-mite history biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

OP, you need to find a really good, tried-and-tested bread based recipe. They will freeze better, keep longer and taste better at any time.

I make them all the time with a non bread recipe, only because i keep forgetting to buy yeast.

I use two different recipes one is sr flour, oil and boiling water, the other is butter, sr flour and water (or might be milk). Kids love it, they can be frozen and they turn out really nice, a bit more crumbly then fluffy but definately not dry. On the freezing part make sure you make extra, last time i did a double batch and dp took some to work, kids had then for lunch the next day and the rest got devoured lol

We do cheesymite scrolls but also puzza ones with cheese ham/bacon, and pineapple, also feta and spinach, the list coukd go on really.

I dont have a bread recipe as such although I always have yeast. I will give the thermomix recipe a try. It says to kneed in the thermomix for for 2 mins. I asume I should do this for 10 mins by hand?

thanks again. Cant wait to try them - tomorrow, I think.

Absolutely agree to making a bread dough and not a scone one for these.

I make cheesy mite ones, pizza and marguerita batches and freeze them in snap lock bags for school lunches. Easy, cheap and convenient.

What size do you make the pizzas?

When you make the cheesymites and pizzas, do your children eat them for lunch or are they for snacks?

Also, can I get away with using plain flour or do I need to get some bakers flour - the shop is a bit out of the way but not by too much.. Can you get bakers flour at Woolies or Coles? I have never looked.

thanks for the advice original.gif
