How much would you spend on a niece or nephews 21st birthday present? I'm thinking between $300-$400, but just curious as to what others spend/would spend.

TIA

I've had 9 nieces and nephews turn 21 in the past 5 years. I'd be broke if I spent that much. I have bought all the nieces an evening bag, and the nephews a belt/ wallet set, or a hip flask. Spent about $50 on each.

Not a lot of help - would depend on my financial situation and on how many other relatives of around that age I had, but yes I would.

I have one nephew and would probably spend around $200 on him. He is only 2 now though so we'll see.

I think it would depend on how close we were. At the moment I'd only be about to spare about $50.

But if I was extremely well-off and I was very close to my niece or nephew, I might be very generous and put money towards a car or shout them an overseas airfare.

I don't have nieces or nephews yet as all my siblings are still fairly young. Some aunts or uncles are one of the most significant adults in the child's life and others are people who live interstate or overseas who you might see for Xmas every three or four years, so it's hard to give a definitive answer.

I wouldn't go over $50.

None of my Aunts and Uncles ever bothered about any of my birthdays and certainly not about my 21st and I don't understand why someone requires such an expensive present just because they are turning 21. I would think it is for their parents to spend money on them if they want their adult child to have an expensive present.
