Do you allow your 7YO to use the internet daily? How much time do you allow? Do you supervise where the child go to?

My DS has been asking for the internet every day (it's school holidays). He is crazy about cars and loves visiting car websites. I used to look for these sites and saved them in the favourites so he can use them every Sunday but he doesnt want it this way anymore. I have no time to supervise him and look for new sites, but I am rather concerned letting him on the internet on his own. There is parental lock on the internet but is that enough? He uses google to find his car websites (such as Holden, Toyota, Nissan, Audi...etc).

I have caught him going to Youtube.com a few times without my permission. That really got me worried. There are good car videos there but I am sure there are lots of junk too.

Also, he is now going into a phase where he would go 'Why?!' when I say 'No'. I am going a bit crazy as I dont have time to think about his requests and he wants his 'Yes' instantly, it's getting trickier now with a newborn to take care with. I feel bad having to say 'NO' but it seems he is expecting 'Yes' all the time. Where should the balance be?

You can set up an allow list where all he can see is what is on the allowed list. I don't know what set up you have but you should be able to research allow lists and set him up as his own user with allow lists - he will not be able to go anywhere except the sites you have put on the allow list.

My 7 and 4yr old sit together and use YouTube often, clicking on random movies, usually funny cats/dogs or clips of cartoons they like, if they find something they know is good, they skip past it quickly and tell me straight away...

My dd is allowed to use the computer when she asks. but it is also set in a very central location and i can see it every time i walk past

DD is allowed to use the pc that is in the dining room. She also knows exactly which sites(all educational) she is allowed to use whilst we are doing other things. If she needs information from any other sites, one of the others sits with her and watches while she finds what she needs.
