Hi
I've been training lots lately, hoping to do a mini triathlon in March (crazy, crazy talk) so have been having protein smoothies for breaky. Fruit, almond milk, chia, ice, protein powder blitzed in the TMX. A couple of people have said to avoid supermarket proteins, I currently have the Nature's Way Protein Figure (endorsed by Michell Bridges - not that it means anything to me), vanilla flavour. What would you suggest as a good protein? TIA |

Post workout I use Syntrax Nectar. Have just finished my container of chocolate truffle and am about to start the tropical flavour. I got mine for the local gym. Its pricey though. It is based on the instant release protein to help with repair after a workout.
For just a general protein shake, again I use the syntrax but its the casien (sp) based protein. That means its slow release. Visit your local gym or supplement store. We have one local called Mass Nutrition who are only to happy to answer questions and provide advice. You can find them on facebook also. Hope that helps a little |

Anything natural without all the crap they put into some of the commercial brands is better.
Look at the ingredient list, that'll tell you alot! Usually a health shop will sell bags of natural protein and it works out way cheaper. |

I love Vital Protein Pea Protein (unflavoured) ingredients: 100% pea protein isolate......that's it no nasties. I add it to my muesli as I don't tolerate dairy and almond milk is much lower in protein than cows milk and I add it to green smoothies (spinach, mint, pear, cucumber, lemon and ginger ). I have a very fussy belly and the search for a protein powder I can tolerate has been very expensive and frustrating

Syntrax proteins are the yummiest. Syntrax matrix (isolate/concentrate blend) in cookies and cream is my go-to protein.
Hubby owns a supp shop. I've tried them all! Efs This post has been edited by Mrs_Snorks: 15/01/2013, 05:45 PM |

Yes, syntrax have minimal carbs.
They don't have the strong artificial sweetener taste that I noticed with horleys. This post has been edited by Mrs_Snorks: 15/01/2013, 05:56 PM |

I make one out of one o the Thermomix books (you don't need a thermy tho) it has milk (whichever you can tolerate, whizzed up almonds, raw egg, green powder, colloidal minerals, frozen fruit, cold pressed almond oil and ice. It's yummy too and so much better than all those artificial things in those shakes!
Oh and some honey |

I run everyday and always have a Nature's Way Protein Figure shake for brekkie on my return, I get the chocolate one from chemist warehouse. Since using it I no longer get achy legs at night and the wee hours of the morning, so i'm sticking to what works for me

I've been using 180 Nutrition in the mornings as a quick breakfast. I'm breastfeeding so wanted one that was as natural as possible. It has a few other goodies like flax and chia seeds as well. Nice with water and frozen berries, sometimes half a banana...not as sweet as some I've tried and a bit chunkier, but I find it fills me up nicely.
ETA They have samples, but you do have to pay for them. The bars are nice too. This post has been edited by ~flaxen~: 15/01/2013, 06:19 PM |
