Hubby and I are thinking of moving to the Pakenham (Vic) area. We are currently in the eastern suburbs but keen on the idea of having a nicer, new house, and need a bigger house now with another bub on the way. of course all this means moving further out of town, which we are slowly coming around to!

we have spent a bit of time looking around, but would like to get opinions on the local schools, and also kinder/ early learning? If anyone knows what they are like, if your kids go there what do you like/ dislike about them, which do you recommend and which should we stay away from?

I have a 1 year old and one on the way, but feel this is something worth looking into before we up and move. I'd like to have ds in both 3 and 4 year old kinder when the time comes, and we would be looking at comparing public and independent private schools in the area, absolutely no religious schools.

My sister moved to Pakenham 5 years ago, and sent her 3 children to the newest of the primary schools, just starting up that year. She felt this one would have the best facilities and resources.
As a new school, the community was fabulous - she got involved as a very active parent helper, fundraiser etc. She found the principal and teachers to be enthusiastic and supportive. But. As a overall, she has since (2 years ago) moved x2 of her children away to a primary school much further that feeds into her chosen high school as she was not happy with what she observed of the local high school. Only 1 child remains now in this further primary school, as the other 2 are both in high school. It was not the teachers or the facilities that drove her to send her children elsewhere, it was the kids.
Bullying - cyber and upfront, theft, deteriorating language, skipping school - my nieces and nephews have fallen victim and been perpertrating. Each child has benefitted from the change of schools.
The area is lovely, the shops are improving as more are introduced (although seriously, everything shuts at 4pm, and there is no variety, I am always shocked when I come up from Sydney lol) and the houses are great value considering the distance from the Melbourne CBD.
We have considered moving to Pakky many times. Hope this has helped
