Hi all,

Background: DSDs live interstate and we only see them in holidays. DF and I are getting married at the beginning of the school holidays so we don't want to be separated from them for more than a couple of days.

DF and I have decided that rather than a full honeymoon we might just stay at a nice hotel in Canberra for a couple of nights as a mini honeymoon. F-ILs would take DSDs for us for a couple of days.

Any suggestions for where would be nice? We want to have somewhere that feels luxurious but isn't going to put us into debt (we already have a wedding for that hehehe). We would love somewhere where we feel special being newlyweds. It doesn't have to be *in* Canberra if there is somewhere else that people suggest that is not far out of Canberra that is cool too

We will probably take a holiday just the two of us in a few years (the only time I have time off and we don't have the kids is at some stage of the Christmas break, though this year it was over ACTUAL Christmas and a couple of days until New Years.)

Mum and dad stayed at the Hyatt a while back, it is meant to be really nice, and the morning tea during the weekends is awesome

We spent our first wedding night at Rydges Capital Hill which was nice, we got the funky spa suite which was nice.

The Hyatt is awesome but OMG even the tiny rooms cost a fortune. I'd stay somewhere else and just visit for the awesome afternoon tea.

People seem to love theCarrington at bungendore. Cafe Schoenegg is an award winner too (just out of Canberra.)

Thanks for the suggestions so far ladies! I'll check them out, though I stumbled upon a romantic get away special in the Snowies and that will be hard to beat, I think!

don't do rydges capital hill - dh took us there when we were engaged and it's really for business men etc - was not romantic at all.

what about heading out to bungendore?

The Burberry hotel is quite nice, as is the diamont hotel (or whatever the one behind rydges lakeside is)

Not sure if its too far away but sandholme guest house at Jarvis bay is beautiful

We've decided we really want a hotel so that we can order room service and not leave the room if we don't want to

It's a bit complicated with DF though as he only eats schnitzel and hot chips, so the places that have restaurants don't really serve schnitzel. Though I think the resort in Crackenback seems to tick the boxes... private chalet, but restaurants etc. Plus DF grew up in the snowies so he is very keen on the idea! They have a romance package where you get a hamper etc so our mini honeymoon will feel like something special
