I purchased "Oven Power" a few weeks ago... reading the instructions, 1 bag per rack, I decided to splurge more $$ so I could do ALL the racks at once (including the ones on the side of the oven).

Now, I haven't cleaned the oven. I soaked the racks in this stuff. I soaked for about 5/6 hours. They SPARKLE!!! They were black, and now they sparkle - All I had to do was wipe tham over with hot soapy water.

Will update once the actual oven is done - but OMG I am in love oven cleaner right now!!

Will have to try this!

ETA: Question - does it clean the actual oven? Or just the racks? 'Cause my oven really needs a good scrubbing.

Not to burst your bubble - but I find that NappySan works just as well.

All you do is take the trays out of the oven put them in the laundry trough with a cap full of napisan and leave to soak overnight... next morning wash in dish washing liquid and give a small scrub and they will sparkle!!!

As for actual oven, I just use Mr Muscle.

My oven's a baked-on nightmare. I'll be off to buy some Oven Power today and see how it works.

I get the same results with Napisan too. I used it to clean a baking dish the other day too - the type that had lots of baked on stuff. Came up so shiny!

Will be cleaning the actual oven today - after we have had out lunch original.gif

I had tried napisan in the past, with not a lot of success.

I just bought Easy Off Over and have been pretty happy with the results and it's got little to no odour as well.

In a lot of rentals with foul ovens, I have used this cheap but effective method:

Take racks out of oven
Add a couple of cups of clothes washing powder and fill laundry sick half full
Soak racks overnight
Clean with steel wool the next day - most of it just comes off and you only have to scrub a little bit.

I too have had great success with oven power. It worked really well on the racks getting rid of that baked on black stuff but not so well on the oven itself-but then it was pretty neglected. I will follow it up with a repeat I think. Highly recommend to others due to its non caustic odour which I really detest with other cleaners.
