Google isn't my friend today and Im after a quick answer.

I fried my phone at the weekend (drowned it actually) and I have a car trip early next week - too soon to get a replacement.

DH has an old digital mobile phone somewhere. I thought the digital system had been switched off and you had to use 3 or 4G.

He says my SIM card shouldn't have been damaged by the water so I should be able to use it.

The digital signal is still up, as many places don't have good access to 3G/4G.

If you didn't try to turn on your phone after you drowned it, you may be able to dry it out by wrapping in thin cloth and burying it in rice, after taking off the back, the battery and sim card. It will draw out the moisture, but can take a few days.

i put it in rice, but idiot me didn't take out the battery, so it started vibrating and squarking. It was a very old phone, but I'm not ready to get something new and I need something with me for my equally dodgy car.
