I'm considering investing in a hot water urn for parties at home. I'm thinking it might be a good alternative to boiling the kettle over and over and having to make cuppas in batches.

Can you recommend a good brand? Any features I should look out for? Plastic or steel? Any safety tips for when children are about? What size is best for smallish parties?

Any advice welcome. original.gif

I bought a Casera brand, stainless steel, 8.8 litre. It is excellent, heats up quickly.
My sons birthday is July so really handy.
I set it up in our garage next to the fridge on a high bench out of reach of little fingers.

It was a great price too at around $40.

I don't have an urn so I won't be much help, but next Saturday (the 26th) Aldi are selling urns for $39.99.. it looks pretty good as well.

Thanks for the replies. Jane05, does the stainless steel feel hot to touch (safety wise)? I was thinking the plastic might not heat up so much. Good idea to place it up high either way so little ones don't have access to boiling water.

It is dual wall insulated for safety.
Auto thermostat.
Cool touch handles.

I had to check the box as was pretty sure It wasn't hot to touch, but haven't used it since July and memory shot lol.
