Is the Basal metabolic rate calculator a good way to work out how many calories you need to be eating? Is the minimum amount of calories it works out good to lose weight or can you go even lower?
Thank you

Hi Jjbeanz!

I'm not sure if this is the most accurate way, but in the past I've calculated my BMR, then used the Harris Benedict equation where you factor in your activity levels. For example, my BMR is 1740; then, for a 'lightly active' person, multiply that by 1.375 = 2390. I then aimed to go at least 500 or so calories below that for weight loss.

Hope that helps original.gif

If you pop into calorie king and enter your weight, height and a few other details, it will calculate that for you. No obligation to use CK if you don't want to, but it does have a you-beaut section for recording everything (which reminds me, I should enter lunch)...
