My DH and I are concerned about our 4yr old DS. We moved somewhere very different 6 months ago and DS is really struggling to adapt. His personality seems to have completely altered - he has become very aggressive, has major tantrums over small things and hits/kicks/bites us, has regressed in TT and now frequently wets himself or poos in his pants (but doesn't seem to care). He seems basically unhappy a lot of the time - says that nothing makes him happy and is very anxious about things. He never wants to go out, even outside to play and often says he just wants "a quiet day at home". He has also become even more fussy with food and now refuses things he used to eat quite happily saying they "taste different here".
We have tried to make his life as normal, routine and familiar as possible. He goes to preschool but frequently doesn't want to go and we're wondering if we should just pull him out and keep him at home until next year. We've also checked with our GP who thinks it is probably all related to the move. He did order some blood tests, but the technician here spent 15mins trying to get blood only to continually fail and the whole thing was so traumatic for everyone that even the GP suggested we hold off on a repeat!
Where we are has limited services, so...
Can anyone recommend a really good child psychologist in Sydney? I know we probably have no chance, but DS & I will be in Sydney for a couple of days in Feb & Mar and I thought it might be worth trying to get an appointment at least. Any other recommendations for things to do/try? We just want our DS to be happy, and are even considering whether we should look into moving back if being here is going to be so traumatic for him.
