we are moving from sydney to melbourne thanks to my dh and his gypsey ways and search for the most awesome job

how the hell do we do it? we have 4 kids. we will have no car as it is a company car. we are on a tight tight budget and we are hoarders.we did a huge move from nz to oz but we had heaps of support and family to help us out. this time we are going to have to do it solo :<

firstly we are culling. huge mega gigantic cull.

then we need to organise our move. has anyone done something like this by themselves? used a removalist? moving company? how do i organise a backloading?

what about storage at the new place? finding a new place to live?

need any tips or suggestions please pretty please

We've moved a few times. We've used both http://www.advanceremovals.com.au/ (Geoff was fantastic) and Grace Removals and would recommend them both.

The last move we had was by far the easiest, that's because we had packers, they organised house, window and carpet cleaning.

I can only suggest to seriously cull (as you have already pointed out).

If you do pack, get proper boxes/paper.

Storage isn't cheap, it really depends on how long you want to store your belongings for as to what the quotation will be like.

Each time we have moved, we had already lined up a place to move to which does help (usually vast research via the internet and then a reconnaissance few days around the places we want to live).

Not so much, it really does depend on how many boxes/furniture/big items etc you have, access to and from your residences and how many removal people you have. For instance, I had a piano and that always bumps up the cost. Most websites offer a quick quote calculator.

I recently moved to Melbourne, the equivalent would have been moving from Newcastle to Sydney. Packing, removal costs (inclusive of packing materials), cleaning, carpet cleaning, window cleaning cost just under $5k.
