This year I want to make sure the kids lunchbox are super healthy. Kids Srebrenica a bit fussy when it cones to what they will eat and will moan about it no doubt but I want to make the changes and get it really healthy. Kids are 8 and 10 years old. What would you suggest they need morning tea and lunch. They get afternoon tea at after school care which is sandwiches and fruit.

Zucchini slice (and you can make it and freeze it in advance:
http://www.glad.com.au/cooking--recipes/re...lice/index.html Hummus and sliced carrot/capsicum/snow peas (or avocado dip, creamy capsicum, etc): http://www.food.com/recipe/the-best-hummus-91710 Cubes of cheese A wrap or pita instead of a sandwich Fruit kebabs (chucks of fruit on a skewer) Boiled egg A yoghurt with less nasties in it (eg: Jalna or a plain greek yoghurt with a little jam stirred through to sweeten) |

I make these for dd- I add grated carrot and zucchini to the batter for and extra vegie hit. I sometimes add ham too. Savoury, banana or carrot muffins are good too- they should also freeze quite well. Muesli slice (you can replace nuts with seeds). Crackers and individual sized portions of philly cheese. Tuna and crackers. Salad wraps. Home made fruit smoothies (frozen in drink bottle). You can use rice or soy milk instead of dairy milk. I would be wary of sending boiled egg/quiche and nuts to school.... |
