Hi there

We are thinking of moving to the Dandenong Ranges. I know the area well, I was born in Monbulk and have family in Upwey. I've seen some fantastic blocks of land so we can build our dream home.

We are looking at Kallista. Can anyone tell me about the local primary schools/kinda and facilitles etc in the area? DH will be traveling to the city each day. He starts at 7am. Where we currently live it takes him 45-60 minutes to get in to the CBD but coming home can take up to 2 hours! He finish at 3.30pm. What's the travel period like at this time of day? Which is the best way to go?

The more I think about it, the more I want to do it!

Any info you can share, I'd be happy to hear it!

I don't live in the area but I have heard very good things about The Patch primary school both from someone who works there and another totally separate person whose children go there.

My husband is a proud graduate of Kallista Primary! My husband says it was an idyllic upbringing (access to Melbourne but all of the beauty and peace of a small town with gorgeous natural resources).

Beautiful area. He still has some very good family friends in the area, and my MIL was a school teacher in The Patch. I'll see if I can get any current input for you.

There are an abundance of fabulous Primary Schools up here, and as most of us have to drive to our closest P.S. it doesn't matter which one of them you choose. Just go for the one that feels right for you and your child.

My DH drives to 3124 each day for work. He leaves at 5am and it only takes 30-35 mins to get there. It is around 45 to 55 mins to get home depending on whether he leaves at 4pm or 4.30pm. Not sure if the 3.30pm drive home would be worse with all the school traffic though??!! I know DH says that if he leaves early sometimes it actually takes him longer to get home....
