I usually take nurofen for pain relief but I only had aspirin left so I have been taking them since yesterday 4 tablets yesterday and 2 this morning, I have never taken aspirin for a pain killer before so I am confused why the hell I am bleeding so much, it's the 2nd day of my periods and I have never bleed like this before, so my question is can aspirin make you bleed more?
Thanks |

This is not medical advice and I suggest if you are concerned to call the GP advice line or similar...aspirin can sometimes be given to people with clotting problems to thin the blood and reduce the risks of clots. I suggest you contact your local pharmacist at the least if you are concerned.

Hell yes! Aspirin is an anti coagulant. I wouldn't take it during a period for this very reason.

I assume it would stop once the aspirin leaves your system.

This happened to me when I was about 12! I had bad period pain and mum gave me aspirin without thinking. We were staying at a family friend's house and I bled so much over night that I stained their sheets and mattress. You can imagine how horrifying this was for me, I was SO embarrassed!
Anyway, it didn't last very much longer after we worked out what had happened and I stopped taking the aspirin. Maybe another day, if that. |
