My daughter constantly gets mouth ulcers. We are cleaning her teeth twice a day and she eats very healthily, lots of fruits and vegetables with Vitamin C she has a multivitamin every night. What on earth could be causing them?!?

I get then when I'm rundown, always have. They suck, I'm sorry for your daughter. SM33 is good for them. Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I sympathise!

When I get them, I rub vegemite on them. Hurts for a second but they usually clear up quickly.

I then eat vegemite on toast or biccies for a while which seems to keep them away.

Recurrent mouth ulcers can be a sign of coeliac disease, there are many different presentations of cd aside from the more typical gi symptoms. Just something to think about..

I don't think she is particularly run down. It doesn't matter what time we put her to bed she will muck around in her room until she actually gets tired and goes to sleep. She has a bed time routine and wind down time but if she is not tired she will not sleep. She has always always been a shocking sleeper

I might look into that. I will google foods with zinc now!

Toothpaste may cause ulcers due to the frothing agent - SLS (or Sodium Lauryl Sulphate).
I have been told by a biochemist that it alters the normal flora & ph of the mouth & some people are particularly sensitive to it.
Not sure how old your DD is, but Kenalog (over the counter paste) from your chemist is really great for helping ulcers.
Good luck with getting some answers, I really feel for her, they hurt so much.
Maybe try another toothpaste from your health food shop that doesn't contain any SLS.

Oh god, don't tell me that! I am now off to google that and see if she has any of the other symptoms

I will also try the vegemite blossom 11 and I will also look at maybe changing her toothpaste

I feel for her because I get mouth ulcers on occasion too

The only other thing we can think of is that she has a terrible habit of chewing on her toothbrush and I think the bristles might be rubbing on her gums. She also has a habit of doing 'duck lips' when I am trying to do her bottom teeth and I sometimes get her gums when I am doing that area

If she is getting a lot of mouth unclers, like 5+ at a time, definitely get it checked out. It can also be a sign of kidney damage.
